(HELTONVILLE) - The North Lawrence School Corporation celebrated the opening of a new elementary school in Heltonville yesterday afternoon.

The new Heltonville Elementary School, the only 4-star rated school in Lawrence County, is open for business.

Indiana Superintendent for Public Instruction Dr. Suellen Reed and principal Doug Martin, as well as a number of other participants responsible for the new school, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the school shortly after 02:00pm.

Although Martin is very happy and proud of his new facility, he did say he will miss the kids being able to go to the store down the road from the old school for ice cream when they read one-hundred books...or whenever the teacher could find an excuse to get ice cream.
