(ORANGE COUNTY) - An increase in traffic accidents has plagued Orange County for the first seven months of the year.

According to Orange County Public Information Officer Bill Fullington, this has been the busiest seven-month stretch for crashes this decade.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Department responded to 206 collisions this year compared to 152 during the same period last year. Fullington says if this keeps up the total could rise to 440 traffic accidents by the end of the year.

With the increase in tourism, the increase in auto accidents rises as well. Fullington says drivers should buckle up and drive safely to remember that we all share the responsibility to keep our roads safe.
