(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Council will discuss the issue of eliminating county property taxes in favor of a county income tax tomorrow evening.

On Friday, Governor Mitch Daniels extended the deadline for counties to take up the Local-Option Income Tax from October 1st to the end of the year.

To help Bedford make the decision, the Association of Indiana Counties will address the pros and cons of either route to the council.

Bedford City Clerk and Treasurer Donna Baumbaugh told WBIW news that she disagrees with the idea of eliminating property taxes in favor of income taxes, but said the school system could use an adjustment.

So far, 8 counties, including Orange county, has moved forward with the proposal. The meeting will be Tuesday evening at 6:30PM at the Lawrence County Courthouse in Room 28.
