Bedford Man Faces Death Sentence For Prison Slaying
(PENDLETON) - The Herald Bulletin in Madison County reports the Miami County prosecutor will be seeking the death penalty against a Bedford man.
Miami County prosecutor Eric Huneryager alleges 39-year-old Scott Nicholson, of Bedford, killed 64-year-old David Hensley, who himself was convicted of child molestation in Fort Wayne, in the Miami Correctional Facility.
After being transferred to the Pendleton prison, Huneryager also alleges Nicholson severely beat 63-year-old prison guard Loren "Jerry" Hartley while in the Pendleton infirmary.
Nicholson, in a letter after the Hensley slaying, vowed he would kill again if not sentenced to die. However, he later withdrew the request.
Nicholson was convicted on a number of charges in Lawrence County in 1998, and will face the new charges starting September 10th.
