E-mail Scammer Hijacks I.U. Account
Last updated on Thursday, July 12, 2007
(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University e-mail account was shut down this week after it apparently was hijacked by a scammer posing as a hit man asking for money.
The e-mail, with an indiana.edu extension, has been sent to numerous recipients by someone outside the United States.
I.U. Police Captain Jerry Minger says the university's IT security office determined that a university e-mail account was hijacked and used to send the messages.
The account has been disabled.
