Medical Fund Set Up For Bedford Teen
(BEDFORD) - A severe auto accident Friday sent a Bedford teenager to the hospital.
Doctors say 15-year-old Kayla Simmerman, of Bedford, could be paralyzed after she was thrown from the vehicle and pinned underneath. Simmerman has been sent to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where doctors are reexamining the injuries.
Police say Simmerman and some friends were heading up to Bloomington when a man apparently exposed himself to the group of girls.
17-year-old Tricia Stahl, of Bedford, lost control of the van she was driving and ran down an embankment near the Showplace 12 Theater off of Hwy. 37. The van overturned before coming to a stop.
Others injured in the accident were 19-year-old Megan Dean, of Nashville, and 15-year-old Alexis Henry, of Bedford.
Jack Voitschild says friends of Kayla Simmerman have set up a fund to help with medical expenses. Voitschild says an account has been set up at the Bedford Federal Saving Bank.
