(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford residents were injured in an accident at 15th and “L” Streets in Bedford.

According to the police report, 20-year-old Devin Smale apparently disregarded the traffic light and struck 38-year-old Julie Andis' vehicle with his auto. The two were attempting to cross in the intersection at the same time.

The force of the impact caused Andis to suffer abrasions to her chin, a contusion to her left knee, and she complained of pain to her neck at the scene. Smale complained of pain to his face. Bedford Regional Medical Center personnel attended to both drivers.

Smale admitted to police that he had snorted Lortab just prior to the accident. Smale submitted to a blood draw with results pending.

Smale was issued a citation for disregarding an automatic signal and jailed for operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance.
