(BLOOMINGTON) - Five-year-old Zach Colvin, of Bedford, is dead following a drowning in Lake Monroe around 3:15PM yesterday afternoon.

Colvin had been swimming with his aunt, older sister, and cousin at the Paynetown Recreation Area were the drowning occurred.

CPR was administered as soon as he was pulled from the water. Colvin was taken to Bloomington Hospital and pronounced dead at the hospital.

A beach search found Colvin in about 5 feet of water. It was estimated he had been underwater for about 7 to 10 minutes.

Police say Colvin was not wearing any type of life jacket or other flotation device. Zack is the son of Sara Walls and Jonathan Colvin, both of Bedford.

The drowning is being investigated by Indiana Conservation Officer John Fenning.
