(BROWNSTOWN) - A Gaston teen is scheduled to go on trial in October in connection with sniper attacks last summer.

18-year-old Zachariah Blanton is accused of firing his hunting rifle from an overpass on a Jackson County road near Seymour, killing 40-year-old Jerry Ross of New Albany and injuring an Iowa man.

Police said Blanton then traveled north that same morning to Delaware County, where he fired more shots on Interstate 69. Those gunshots resulted in no injuries.

Blanton has yet to be charged with crimes in Delaware county. Blanton is charged as an adult.
