(BLOOMINGTON) - An argument over what television show they were going to watch prompted a 15-year-old Bloomington girl to purportedly stab her mother’s live-in boyfriend to death over the weekend.

38-year-old Michael Lewis died from a stab wound to the chest after he demanded they watched the evening news.

During the argument, Lewis reportedly kicked the family's dog, which fueled a physical fight between Lewis, the suspect, and her twin sister.

Bloomington Police Captain Joe Qualters says one of the girls eventually grabbed a knife from the kitchen.

The second sister tried to intervene and suffered a cut to her arm before the suspect broke free and allegedly killed Lewis.
