(BEDFORD) - Three Bedford police officers were slightly injured when they were called to a child custody problem Wednesday night.

The wife of 38-year-old Louis Dalton called police saying he had hold of their 2-year-old daughter and wouldn't let her go.

When officers Steven Kidd, Daniel Atchison and Timothy Chen arrived they found Dalton intoxicated and swinging the young girl. The officers' main concern at the time was the welfare of the child.

When the police went to restrain Dalton, he became combative. All three officers suffered bruises, abrasions and cuts and charged Dalton with three counts of battery on a police officer with injury.

Dalton was additionally charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force, and neglect of a child with endangerment.

Dalton was then incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.
