(BEDFORD) - Fire and police officials are looking for the driver of a white Ford Mustang that forced the brand new Bedford Fire Department hook and ladder truck off the road.

The driver and passenger in the fire truck say they saw the vehicle stay in the middle of the road. The driver of the fire truck swerved to avoid a collision.

Bedford Fire Chief Jack Stigall says the new fire truck was damaged slightly when the truck dropped off the side of the road.

The department is now getting estimates in order to repair the truck.

Stigall says the truck is not out of service. Bedford Detectives continue to investigate the accident.
