Bedford Man Arrested For Battery Of 3-Year-Old

(BEDFORD) - A step-father has been arrested following an incident that occurred last week.
Bedford Police Department Major Dennis Parsley says the police, along with Bedford Regional Medical Center Ambulance personnel, were called to Redman Drive to a report of a three-year-old girl not breathing.
When they arrived, 26-year-old Lucas Carter told police that his step-child had fallen off her bed and hit her head.
After more questioning and inconsistencies, Carter was charged with battery causing serious injury, a Class B Felony.
The young girl remains in an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition.
Bedford Police Department detectives and Child Protective Services continue in the investigation.
