Police Look For Possible Shooter

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County police are investigating a possible shooting near Mitchell.

According to police records, a Mitchell man called the sheriff's department saying his friend on Old Buddha Road spotted someone trying to steal a gun. His friend noted that he may have shot someone in the process.

Lawrence County Police Assistant Chief Tony Siedl says a truck holding a motorcycle took off from the residence. The bike fell off the bed of the truck and police then impounded it. Police hope to get fingerprints or other evidence to find who may have been involved.

Siedl says that regional hospitals were asked to be on the lookout for anyone who may come into the emergency room with gun shot wounds. Police continue to investigate.
