Bedford Fire Dept. Chief Retiring

(BEDFORD) - Bedford Fire Chief Jack Stigall has officially announced his retirement from the Bedford Fire Department.
After 31 years of service, Stigall made the announcement saying his effective retirement date is June 1st.
Stigall was named Chief at the beginning of Bedford Mayor Joe Klumpp's term in office. He was instrumental in securing the new 100 foot Mid Mount Aerial Platform fire truck that was recently delivered to Bedford. He also successfully worked to establish a wider gap in longevity pay for Bedford Firefighters.
The mayor has praised Stigall for his leadership and loyalty. Klumpp says the new fire chief will be Scott Gillespie. Gillespie began as a Bedford Firefighter in 1985 and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the North Lawrence Community School Corporation.
