Silent Art Auction To Be Held In Steffey's Honor

(BLOOMINGTON) - A silent art auction whose proceeds were to be used to establish a reward for Wade Steffey’s safe return will now offer revenue to a memorial fund for the fallen freshman.
Steffey's parents, Dale Steffey and Dawn Adams, are both artists and Bloomington area arts council executive director Miah Michaelsen says the national art community has issued an outpouring of support for the couple.
Michaelsen says more than 90 artists have donated works, including quilters and sculptors native to Indiana.
The auction will be conducted by silent, written bid at Bloomington's Waldron Arts Center and should cover the space from wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, Michaelsen says.
Anyone can bid on pieces from Monday through Saturday and Michaelsen says the art will offer something for every price range.
Money sent to the memorial fund does not have a specified use yet, but Michaelsen says it may turn into scholarships in Wade Steffey's name.
