(BEDFORD) - A Washington, Indiana woman was taken to an Indianapolis hospital following an accident on U.S. Hwy. 50 and Cozy Fireplace Road near Mitchell.

Police were called to the scene after 68-year-old Elizabeth Chestnut's vehicle went off the right side of the road for an unknown reason. Chestnut was unable to steer the car back onto the road and it went over an embankment and hit a culvert before coming to a stop.

Chestnut told police she asked how her daughter was doing. 40-year-old Jill Jones, initially said she was OK, however, she then stopped breathing. First Responders and medics arrived a short time later and discovered Jones had experienced a heart attack.

Jones was taken by ambulance to Dunn Memorial Hospital then airlifted to Methodist Hospital. Chestnut had suffered a fractured elbow in the accident.
