(SHOALS) - A Shoals man is behind bars after he wrecked the vehicle he was in.

Indiana State Police say 25-year-old David Wayne Terry, III, overturned the tractor-trailer he was driving at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 50 and Us. Hwy 150 in Shoals.

When troopers arrived at the scene they discovered the vehicle had been stolen a short time earlier in Shoals. Terry fled the scene.

With ISP K-9 Rico police were able to track Terry in a field near the accident scene. Police found him inebriated and driving while being a habitual traffic violator. He was found to be in possession of marijuana under 30 grams and drug paraphernalia.

Terry was additionally charged with auto theft. He was taken to the Martin County Jail and incarcerated.
