Detectives Investigating Auto Theft Crash

(MITCHELL) - Police are investigating an accident near Mitchell that occurred on Mill Creek Road near Lawrenceport Road.
Police found a vehicle that had been reported stolen. The thief of the auto missed a curve, ran into a guard rail sliding nearly 30 feet, came back onto the roadway fishtailing then ran off the left side of the road. The vehicle crashed through a fence striking two trees and continued over an embankment coming to rest.
The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene before officers arrived. The case has been turned over the Lawrence County Police Detective Division.
