Last updated on Friday, December 22, 2006

(MITCHELL) - An accident at the stoplight at State Road 37 and Main Street in Mitchell injured an Orleans family and a Mitchell woman.

Police say 36-year-old William Morgan was turning onto Main Street from the highway while 48-year-old Sherlyn Brown was trying to turn onto the street as well. Morgan could not avoid hitting Brown's auto, slamming into the front of her auto.

Morgan's passenger, Kathy Morgan, suffered bleeding around her eye, Coty Morgan and Sidney Morgan, in the back seat, complained of stomach and leg pain. Brown complained of neck pain. An ambulance was called to treat the wounded.

Police say Morgan's air bags did not deploy, nor did the seat belts lock when he slammed on his brakes.
