Bloomington Man Ordered To Pay $15-Mil For Drunk Driving
(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man convicted in connection with a drunk driving accident has been slapped with a huge monetary penalty.
Twenty-four-year old Steven Bartlett has been ordered to pay 17-year old Noel Ramey $15-million because of the permanent brain damage Bartlett caused in the August 2003 incident.
Bartlett was sentenced to four years in prison in 2004. Police say his blood-alcohol level was two-and-a-half times the legal limit when he was stopped the night of the accident. Ramey's lawyers argue the crash changed their client's life significantly.
