(MITCHELL) - Disgruntled bus drivers had a message to give to the Mitchell School Board in last night’s meeting and Mitchell School Board Vice President Debbie Beeler agreed with them by voting no.
Some of the bus drivers who were seasoned veterans told the board how upset they were with the way the bus routes were given to new and unfamiliar drivers. Beeler voiced her displeasure by saying she had talked with many of the individuals involved in the process. She said treating the contracted bus drivers like second class citizens is terrible.
School board member Kelly Wade made the motion to pass the contracts as presented. After much discussion with school attorney Chris Burton, who stated the State Board of Accounts was responsible for the new changes, board member Susan Miller made the deciding vote. She voted yes on the new bus routes saying she felt lawsuits could arise if she had voted in the opposite direction.
