Woman Crashes Through Two Driveways

(BEDFORD) - A Whiteland woman had quite a ride after she fell asleep at the wheel.

Martha Matthews was traveling on U.S. Hwy. 50 west of Bedford near Poplar Lane when her vehicle ran off the road. It traveled over 138 feet hitting a driveway culvert. The vehicle went airborne for 23 feet before traveling for another 88 feet hitting a second driveway culvert. The auto became airborne again for 48 feet. The vehicle flipped end over end landing on its top and sliding an additional 81 feet before coming to rest.

Matthews was taken to Bedford Regional Medical Center by ambulance treated for abrasions, contusions and a fractured leg. The Huron Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
