(COLUMBUS) - Columbus fire officials say there’s been an outpouring of support for the city’s “Cheer Fund,” which collects donations to give to needy teens during the holidays.
A stash of gifts was taken from the cheer fund's lockers over the weekend, but the stockpile has begun to be replaced.
Co-chairman Scott Stam says he's gotten calls from businesses asking how they can help and saying they've contacted other businesses to coordinate efforts.
The fund still hopes to distribute gifts to as many as 1,600 kids this year and raise $75,000.
