(LEXINGTON) - A school bus loaded with children was involved in a three-vehicle pile-up.
Police say the bus was loaded with about 30 children at the time of the accident.
The incident occurred when an S-10 pickup, driven by 16-year-old Natasha Perkins, was driving slowly due to the icy roads. A passenger car, driven by 17-year-old Kayla Shaw, came up from behind and hit the backend of the truck. The truck spun landing in the opposite direction. The school bus, driven by Frank Surber, hit the truck on the passenger side.
Perkins was taken to the hospital by Stat Flight Air Ambulance to the University of Louisville with serious injuries. Neither Shaw nor Surber was injured. Some of the children complained of pain but were not seriously injured. The icy roads were blamed for the accident.
