(BEDFORD) - An Oolitic woman suffered pain to her ribs following an accident on 16th and “M” Streets in Bedford.

Police say 88-year-old Lola Skinner was attempting to cross the intersection when 53-year-old Joseph Lake, of Bedford, crossed at the same time hitting Skinner's vehicle.

Witnesses say Lake did have the green light, however, Skinner told police she thought she could get through the intersection before her light turned red. Skinner refused treatment for her injuries, Lake was apparently not injured.

Skinner was charged with failure to yield the right of way and disregarding the signal light. Damage to both vehicles was between $2,500 to $5,000.
