(BEDFORD) - Otis Park Golf Course Superintendent Brice Gordon spoke to the Bedford Park Board last night pleading with them to keep the back nine holes closed until next spring.

Apparently, there has been some word to open the reseeded area in November. Gordon read what North Central Region U.S. Golf Association Director Bob Brame wrote to him about the progress made with Otis Park's holes 10 through 18.

Brame says the turf is still juvenile and should be closely monitored. Applause rose after Gordon finished and the board agreed with Gordon that the holes would not be opened until sometime in April. If the grass matures quickly it may be possible to open as early as February 2007.
