(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County LEPC meeting was held at City Hall yesterday afternoon.

Group members heard from Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency Director Valerie Luchauer announcing a full scale emergency disaster drill will be held in Lawrence, Monroe and Brown Counties. The 24-hour event will be held on February 16th and 17th of next year. Emergency personnal from each county will participate in the mock disaster. This will be the largest drill of its kind ever in Southern Indiana.

Closer to home, Fire Prevention Week is October 8th through the 14th and to make residents aware of the importance of fire prevention the Lawrence County Volunteer Fire Fighters will be at WalMart each night during that week showing their fire fighting equipment. A 50/50 drawing, giveaways and contest will be held during the week. A Fire Prevention Carnival will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at K-Mart. There will be games, prizes, activities, food and educational opportunities at each event.
