Police Alerted Of Cultivated Marijuana

Last updated on Monday, September 18, 2006

(HOPE) - Bartholomew County deputies have uncovered 27 pounds of marijuana plants growing in a remote area of the county.

The sheriff's department found the plants after a narcotics officer received an anonymous tip.

Major Mark Gorbett says the plants were being cultivated on a man's property without his knowledge.

Gorbett says due to the volume of plants, the marijuana is clearly for resale, not personal consumption. Police are looking for the cultivators.
