(BEDFORD) - In a quick and swift adoption hearing last night, the Lawrence County Commissioners passed the 2007 budget.
The commissioners have been working the numbers with the Lawrence County offices since early this summer to balance the income and outgo of the multi-million dollar budget.
Before the vote was passed, Bedford Revitalization, Inc. Executive Director Penny May asked the board to increase the County's contribution from $2,500 to $5,000. She said BRI's budget is about $53,000 a year and is partly raised by local fund-raisers and grants. She was asked about the facade program. She told the board the Lawrence County Historical Society used grant money to help with that program. She said the group helps with the 4th of July parade and Christmas parade providing insurance for the events.
The board voted down May's request, 3-4, for the additional money.
