(MITCHELL) - Mitchell City Council members met this morning to beginning studying the possibility of issuing bonds for the sewer and water system.

Indiana Department of Emergency Management has sent several letters to the city requesting changes in a lift station and sewer compliance.

Jennifer Wilson with Crowe Chizek and Company in Indianapolis presented to the board a sample of what it would take to bring in enough money to help with rising operating and maintenance costs. A typical family who uses 5,000 gallons of water a month would see an increase in their water bills of about $17.00.

The board in today's meeting voted to begin the study with public meetings to follow in October.
