(NASHVILLE) - The trial of a man accused of killing his wife at the couple’s Brown County home continued included two stories about the incident.

Rita Richardson met Michael Smith through a dating service. She says Smith told her he'd tried CPR after finding his wife Linda half-in and half-out of the couple's hot tub, but could not revive her following a heart attack.

Donald Esselborn, who'd worked as a handyman for Smith, says he was told Linda Smith died as a result of a fall or a seizure. Autopsy results show the woman was strangled. Defense attorneys claim an expert witness will say the cause of death was drowning.
