(SHOALS) - An Oakland City resident was sent to Dunn Memorial Hospital after an accident in Martin County.

Police say 54-year-old Carl Sweany was eastbound on U.S. Hwy. 50 near Shoals in his semi when the trailer's load shifted on a curve causing the vehicle to hit a guard rail. The tractor-trailer overturned causing it to dump its load.

Sweany suffered a concussion and head abrasion. He was treated and released from the hospital. Police charged Sweany with driving a vehicle while intoxicated.
