Lawrence County Council Reduces Requests
(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Council was frugal with the budget Tuesday night with requests from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and the Court House Plaza.
Sheriff Kent Hawkins was requesting $47,000 be added to the prisoners meal account. The board, after much discussion, gave Hawkins $10,000 and asked him to return next month.
Lawrence County Commissioner President Janie Craig Chenault asked the board for an additional $18,500 to pay utility bills for the Court House Plaza for the remander of the year. The board approved $15,000 with a possible increase later in the year.
In other action, Ron Walker with the Lawrence County Solid Waste asked the board to approve the budgets between the two entities. The board approved the changes.
