(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Lawrence County Police Department, along with the Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving and the Traffic Safety Division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute are joining with thousands of law enforcement and highway safety agencies across the nation now and during the Labor Day holiday to launch an aggressive new crackdown aimed at combating impaired driving, named “Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.”
Nationwide nearly 13,000 people in 2004 were killed in highway crashes involving impaired drivers.
Forty-one percent of motorcycle drivers who died in single-vehicle crashes had blood alcohol levels of .08 or higher.
Driving with a BAC of .08 or higher is illegal in every state.
