Last updated on Wednesday, August 16, 2006
(MITCHELL) - The Defense Department could use an Indiana quarry to test a new form of “bunker buster” weapons.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency is looking at a site near Mitchell to detonate the non-nuclear weapons.
Smaller-scale tests were conducted at the site in 2004 and 2005, using as much as three thousand pounds of explosives.
