(BEDFORD) - During Thursday night’s North Lawrence Community Schools Corporation board meeting, board member Wendell Nikirk reponded to a letter written to the Times-Mail recently.

In the letter, it stated how school officials would not inform parents nor send children home if the child was found to have head lice.

He said that those statements were not true.

He said every effort to call the parents and send the child home is used.

Nikirk said its common sense to keep the student separate from the other children to prevent the spread of the head lice.
