(UNDATED) - Bloomington officials are considering a plan by the Indianapolis department of waterworks to build a pipeline that would pump 90 million gallons of water per day from Lake Monroe to Indianapolis.
The department is studying the idea with hopes of finding a solution for the capital city's water needs for the next 50 years.
Bloomington officials say the 60-mile pipeline would be an "incredible burden" for many people, and that the areas surrounding Lake Monroe will need to increase the amount of water pumped from the lake for themselves in the future.
