Company Abandons Lake Monore-Indianapolis Water Line Plans

Last updated on Friday, July 28, 2006

Water company Aquavisions has decided to abandon plans to funnel water from Lake Monroe north to Indianapolis.

This decision comes after Governor Mitch Daniels appeared to side with Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan in his disapproval for the proposal.

Under the plan, 60 miles of pipe would have been laid and 90 million gallons of water a day pumped from the lake to Marion County. Kruzan publicly questioned whether the lake could handle that much drainage.

Kruzan also said if the entities involved were larger, it was the kind of issues over which wars are started.
