LEPC Group Continues Pick Up Speed

(BEDFORD) - About a dozen representatives from businesses around the county gathered at the Dunn Memorial Hospital Education Room Tuesday for the June meeting of the Lawrence County Local Emergency Preparedness Committee.
Chairperson Bob Atkins told the board that the group is beginning to gain momentum with activities around the area.
Valerie Luchauer with Lawrence County Emergency Management related her recent trip to the Indiana HASMAT conference. She said pre-planning and how to handle different groups in an emergency was highlighted. She is working on obtaining EMA grants for the district.
Venessa Findley with the Lawrence County Health Department reported on the flu pandemic meeting held at the Bedford Convention Center. She said about 90 people showed up interested in learning more about the threat. She said a Table Top exercise would be held at Bedford Regional Medical Center on July 18th from 10:00AM to 12 noon.
The next meeting will be held at Bedford Regional Medical Center on the same day at 3:00PM. The public is invited to attend.
