(BEDFORD) - Ground was broken at the new location of the Sears store on John Williams Boulevard in Bedford on Wednesday.

About 40 city officials and representatives attended the late afternoon ceremony.

Store manager Denny Underwood says the new store will be larger than the present one on 16th Street with 2,000 more square feet. All of the products he now sells will be included in the new store.

Craig Bowlen, with Bowlen Builders, will construct the Stalcup Shopping Center that will house four more businesses.

Work is expected to take until sometime in October.
