Car Accident Kills One Near Judah

(JUDAH) - More details have become available on the two-car crash that occurred on Hwy 37 and Old Hwy 37 near Judah yesterday morning.

Lawrence County police report that 65-year-old Terris Wright, of Bloomington, was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Hwy 37 when 74-year-old Veneta Pickens, of Orleans approached the intersection heading north.

Wright's Toyota Corolla slammed into Picken's Ford Taurus causing both to spin. Wright suffered contusions and bruising to her arm. Wright's passenger, 64-year-old Shirley Wright, of Bloomington, was killed in the accident with internal head injuries. 77-year-old Carol McCoy and 76-year-old Virginia Brown, both of Orleans, were injured complaining of chest pain. Pickens complained of neck pain.

Wright was charged with failure to yield right-of-way.
