Last updated on Thursday, June 22, 2006

(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police were called to the Monroe Bank branch on 16th Street yesterday afternoon to a report of a bank robbery.

Bedford Police Major Dennis Parsley says 38-year-old Donald Nelson, Jr., of Bloomington, attempted to rob the Bedford Monroe Bank branch and fled toward Sycamore Square on 16th Street.

Police surrounded the building and he surrendered without incident. It took police less than four minutes to apprehend the thief.

Nelson had robbed the same branch bank back in March of this year.
