(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Commissioners meeting was held Tuesday morning in the Lawrence County Courthouse.

Joe Dibert with the Department of Corrections reported to the board that the annual grant agreement has been increased for Lawrence County. He said the county could receive over $218,000, or about a 20% increase.

Beth Hall, from Maverick Insurance in Sellersburg, asked the board for permission to look into providing the county employees property and casualty insurance. Board President Janie Craig Chenualt told Hall the commissioners tend to use local companies for nearly all of their insurance needs. However, she did allow Hall to go ahead and check into rates. Hall will return in November with the new insurance rates.
