(BLOOMINGTON) - The insurance company representing a Monroe County council member accused of battery will be allowed to be a part of his case.

Farm Bureau Insurance will join the case against Trent Jones because it says it has a financial interest in how the suit is decided.

Jones was sued by former University of Evansville basketball player Brent Kell in May of 2003 after the two men fought and Kell suffered brain injuries.

Farm Bureau insured Jones at the time of the altercation, but wants a court to rule it is not responsible for an injuries Kell suffered.
