(BEDFORD) - Work continues on upgrading the stoplights in and around Bedford.

Michiana Contracting Vice President Michael A. Delp says work has been going smoothly. They have been working on the lights around the city, now they will begin working within the city limits.

Delp says they will be at the intersection of 5th and Lincoln next to the Bedford fire station today. The white bucket trucks will around there helping in the upgrading. Delp says motorists should try and find alternate routes since the lights will be turned off during the work and 4-way stop signs will be set up to regulate traffic.

On Tuesday, work will begin at 16th and HWY 37, and then plans are to head downtown repairing and upgrading the lights. Work is expected to last until August.
