(SPENCER) - Two boys were rescued after several hours of searching following an accident that tossed them into the White River.

The boys were traveling with a group to Indiana for the National Science Olympiad event. About 20 students who'd come to compete rented canoes from McCormick's Creek State Park and set off for an afternoon of fun.

One of the 14 canoes capsized and forced authorities to canvass the river looking for the Ohio teenagers, who were clad in life jackets.

The boys had made their way to shore and were wandering the woods when a search party patrolling the river noticed them.
