"Handsome Bandit" Cries At Sentencing
(BLOOMINGTON) - A Monroe County judge has sentenced the man known as the “handsome bandit” to 20 years behind bars.
The "handsome bandit", Mark Estanislau, cried in court as he admitted that he has a drug problem and was despondent over the fact he rarely sees his daughter.
Estanislau apologized to the tellers he victimized during four bank robberies, but was still ordered to pay more than $18,000 in restitution.
Judge Marc Kellams says those costs will likely be paid in part by his co-defendant Robert Lewellen, who has a final pre-trial hearing May 31st, 2006.
