BUEA Holds Meeting Thursday Night

(BEDFORD) The Bedford Urban Enterprise Association met last night at the Downtown Convention Center and discussed the many projects underway in the city including the Maple Street Park, landscaping of the parking lot behind the Convention Center and Lawrence County History Museum, and cleaning up the Edington property at 5th and “H” Streets.
It was stated that renovations of the old Milwaukee Depot at 13th and "J" streets will begin on June 1st. Incentive packages were sent out to 130 businesses to help the organization with their budget.
Beth Snead updated the group on the Beech Street Park. She said she is asking employees of Duke Energy to help. She suggested that volunteers from the Master Gardeners group could help with landscaping the area and receive credit for it.
Natasha Johns told those gathered financing for the Englewood School Playground is about halfway there. It will cost about $65,600 for the playground and park.
Director Jamie Harris told the board that funding for the organization would have to be found from different sources.
