(SEYMOUR) - Andrea Evans, the two-year-old Seymour girl who was the subject of a state wide Amber Alert, was rescued Thursday.
The Amber Alert was declared Wednesday after it was reported Andrea had been taken by force by her father, 45-year-old Thomas Evans. Dozens of tips of reported sightings had been reported to the 800 amber alert phone number.
One tip brought Seymour City Police officers and a State Police officer to the Rockford Place Diner. As officers arrived, Evans fled the scene in his car and struck another car. As he tried to leave he was involved in a collision with Seymour and State Police vehicles.
Police say Evans displayed a revolver, which was later determined to be fully loaded with six live rounds. Evans refused police demands to lower his weapon and was shot multiple times by two Seymour officers and by one Indiana State Police officer. Andrea Evans is now in the custody of her mother.
